...that govern our appleite community.

applei.ph Site Manifesto

This site envisions to cater to all your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad needs. The goal of this site is to provide you with the most comprehensive resource for everything iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, as well as provide an avenue where members may help one another in resolving and troubleshooting their iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad issues.

Like every other community site, the spirit of this place will be borne from the active participation of each and every one of us. In this regard, our site will be governed by three fundamental principles:

1 Love thy iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

2 Respect your peers.

3 Obey the law.

These three principles will be our guideposts in everything we do, say, and post here.  These principles ensure that our site will be a place where we could all share our resources, discoveries, insights, and shared passion in a friendly and enjoyable way.

Everybody is welcome to be part of the community, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike.  We only ask that you comply with the three principles mentioned, in your stay here, as well as the other rules and guidelines we have set in accordance with these principles.

The applei.ph team is here to help out the best we can, but ultimately, applei.ph is all of us. We look forward to stories of appleites helping each other out with their iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad problems.

Live Chat Guidelines

These are the Rules and Guidelines for everyone's compliance when using the Live Chat feature of applei.ph

1) ABSOLUTELY NO OBSCENITY, ILLEGAL MATTERS, IMMORALITY, RUMOR MONGERING, INSENSITIVE TALK, AND DISRESPECT (specially to women). Let us keep the Live Chat and the site a decent and respectable place.

2) NO INTERRUPTION OF ONGOING ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATIONS/GUIDING/HELPING OUT. When someone is guiding someone, refrain from interrupting UNLESS the instructions are CLEARLY WRONG. Imagine that they are having a conversation between the two of them in real life. Only step in politely when there is a real need to clarify/correct things.

3) WATCH YOUR WORDS AND DO NOT HUMILIATE ANYONE. Whether it be a member, a non-member, ANYONE. Everyone should read the applei manifesto. One of the principles of this site is "Respect your Peers".

4) USE OF THE LIVECHAT TO CONTRAVENE THE ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY ON CRACKS FOR IPHONE APPS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Do not do in the LiveChat what you are forbidden to do in the forums. We will be implementing this strictly. Solicitation or sharing of cracks in the LC will not be tolerated.

5) SEARCH THE FORUMS FIRST BEFORE ASKING IN THE LIVECHAT. 90% of your questions have already been answered in the forums. Use it wisely to your advantage. The Search Bar is there for a reason. It tires everyone when people keep asking the same questions already answered in the forums.

6) AVOID USING TEXT LINGO IN THE LIVECHAT. It is quite difficult to understand you if you spell words in text lingo, specially if you're asking for help. Please make it easy for us also to comprehend you better so that we may be able to assist you as quickly as possible.

NOTE: Using Tagalog is not prohibited in the LiveChat. However, English is highly recommended as we also have non-Filipino members from around the world, and they might have a difficult time understanding us, should we continue to use a language foreign to them.

7) NO HOGGING OF THE LIVECHAT. Members are strictly prohibited from flooding the LiveChat. Do not repeat your posts. Do not post in installments and do not post really long posts.

Everyone is also encouraged to use YM or other IM applications when you need to one-on-one someone in guiding him through a help / troubleshooting session. This ensures that the LiveChat will still be usable for other members and that your one-on-one session will be uninterrupted.

8) TALK PROPERLY. We are a very sophisticated & well-mannered community, and we would like to keep it that way.

9) NO SELLING OR OFFERING PAID SERVICES ON THE LIVECHAT. This website is for sharing information and helping others, not selling stuff.

The team is hoping for everyone's cooperation in ensuring the quality, enjoyability, and respectability of the site. Thank You.

Note:

1st Violation - Light Warning

2nd Violation - Stern Warning

3rd Violation - Ban of Account

Specific MarketPlace Rules

1. Minimum 30 Posts/30-day Membership Requirement to Sell in the Marketplace.
All members need to have a minumum of 30 posts and a minimum of 30 days residency as a member in good standing prior to posting a "For Sale" or "For Trade" item in the Marketplace. All "For Sale" or "For Trade" posts that do not meet this minimum requirement will be summarily deleted by the moderators and without notice.

Moderators will monitor the forums for those who post just to comply with this 30 posts/30-day membership requirement. All posts which are deemed "post-padding" will be summarily deleted by the moderators.

Post-Padding include, but are not limited to, posts which simply state:

Up up.
Bump.

Nice.
Wow.

Moderators reserve their right to determine which posts constitute "post-padding".

2. Career / Commercial / Habitual Selling and applei.ph partnership
applei.ph is primarily a site whose founding principle was to establish a forum where the love of iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad/Apple branded devices could be discussed. The marketplace is meant to be just an auxilliary section. The rules for selling are very simple:

a) No more than 1 FS post, in any category, per month.
b) No more than one item per FS post.

Those who wish to provide a service to the applei.ph membership by selling items at a competitive cost on a regular basis may apply for an applei.ph partnership status. Partners can post items for sale without requiring to follow the stipulations above. Of course, the threads still need to comply with regards to post content.

If you are interested to become an applei.ph partner, please send a Letter Of Intent via email to any of the Moderators or Admins of applei.ph.

3. Selling of items that infringe on Intellectual Property rights
No selling of items that violate copyright law (so-called "class A" items). Items that look too similar to established brands are not allowed and will be summarily removed without notice.

Other Rules

1. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse. - All new members are expected to read the forum rules before posting, especially in the Marketplace. All new members should read the following threads, before doing anything else.

2. This site is for sharing information, not selling products.
Soliciting business is strictly prohibited, except in the MarketPlace section. This includes signatures, personal text, avatars, and the LiveChat. All violations may be summarily removed by the moderators. Repeated violators may be summarily banned by the administrators.

3. Update the Status of Your Item Once a Week or When Sold
If your FS item is still available, you can update by replying to your thread:

"Still Available"

or words similar to that. You can do this every 5-7 days. Once a week is recommended.
Again, posts like "up up" or "bump" are NOT ALLOWED.
These posts may be deleted and your item may be locked or archived by the moderators if you update your item using "up up" or "bump". Again, everyone is tasked with knowing this rule and ignorance will not be an excuse.

When you have sold your item, kindly reply to your thread with the word "SOLD" or similar words. This is to help the moderators know when to lock and move your post to the "Sold Items" Forum section. This will also help minimize waste and nuisances for everyone involved, both potential buyer and seller.

4. Prohibited Matters:
a) Highjacking of threads.
b) Bumping threads.
   1) "Up Up".
   2) "Bump"
c) Illegal, offensive, or immoral things.
d) Solicitation for paid iPhone / iPod Touch related services.
