It is because answers to common idevice questions can be found here in the FAQ. The FAQ is designed for those with iPhone/iPod/iPad problems to easily find the solutions they need by making available all common Q&As in one page.
.
Just to make it clear and to avoid any misunderstanding, appleites do not direct you to the FAQ because they are lazy, because they are in a foul mood or just for the heck of it. It is because a lot of research has been done by your fellow appleites and the best way to show gratitude for their efforts is to read their posts, to understand the problem, to identify the solution and on your own apply their offered fix.
.
Once you try the fix but stumble into a roadblock, next step is make use of the forum search function, there might be another thread with a more suitable fix for your problem. If that step fails, that is the time to head out to LiveChat and request for help. Please state on your initial LiveChat message the problem specifics such as device model, firmware, modem firmware, nature of problem and whatnot for immediate and more accurate troubleshooting. If for some reason, though highly unlikely, no one knows the answer in LiveChat, you may now create a new post in the forum. Please make sure the post is in the helping hand section.

Is there an Untethered Jailbreak for devices on the latest firmware iOS 5.0.1?
For iPhone4, 3Gs, iPad1 and iPod 3G/4G use Redsn0w 0.9.10b5[WIN/MAC] to do untethered jailbreak for those running 5.0.1. To preserve your iPhone's baseband, use Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 [WIN/MAC] or Sn0wbreeze 2.9 [WIN] to create a iOS 5.0.1 CFW. 3Gs with 6.15 basebands should also always restore to a CFW.
For iPad2 wifi only and wifi+3G models, use Absinthe [MAC/WIN] for those running on 5.0.1 firmware version. Use Jailbreakme 3.0 for iPad2 on 4.3.3 Firmware. None for other firmwares.
Is there a Software Unlock for iPhone 4S?
No Software Unlock. No ETA. It will be out when a Dev-team releases it. Stop asking.
