As tweeted by ih8sn0w, Sn0wbreeze 2.2 (aka PnwageTool for Windows) is now available for download to untether jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 4.2.1. Just like the recently released PwnageTool for Mac, Sn0wbreeze 2.2 also incorporates the kernel based GreenPois0n exploit for untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak.

The highlight feature of Sn0wbreeze 2.2 is the new “Baseband Preservation Mode”. This new mode enables current iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G users to preserve their baseband while upgrading to iOS 4.2.1 so that they can unlock using existing version of Ultrasn0w.



Also new in Sn0wbreeze 2.2 is the ability to play Pac-Man game to keep you busy while the custom IPSW is being built for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, along with the ability to change boot logos, thanks to GreenPois0n RC5/6 exploit. Fix for iBooks is also included.




How To: create and restore to pre-jailbroken iOS 4.2.1 CFW Using Sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 with baseband retention

Step 1: Download sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 and corresponding 4.2.1 ipsw for your device. Don't forget to back up device data using iTunes first!.

Step 2: Launch sn0wbreeze 2.2 and press OK on the first screen.


Step 3: Click "Close Credits"


Step 4: Click next (blue right arrow)


Step 5: Browse the corresponding 4.2.1 ipsw for your device.


Step 6: sn0wbreeze will identify ipsw


Step 7: Once ipsw is identified, click next arrow


Step 8: Select "Simple Mode" then click on the blue arrow at the bottom right to proceed.


Step 9: You wantz hactivation? Click yes if you dont have a carrier sim. No if you have one.


Step 10: sn0w breeze will start building the CFW, you can opt to play pacman or click "no thanks, I'll stick to the spinner"




Step 11: "Done". Click ok then follow onscreen instructions to place device in pwned dfu mode.




Step 12: once in pwned dfu mode, close sn0wbreeze and launch iTunes

Step 13: iTunes will detect your device in recovery mode. To install the custom firmware you have just created, simultaneously press the SHIFT key on the keyboard and RESTORE button in iTunes. Select the custom firmware you have created (it's on your desktop labeled sn0wbreeze_iPhone X-4.2.1.ipsw) and wait for the restore process to be completed.


Step 15: DONE! Your device is now on a jailbroken 4.2.1 firmware and retained your old baseband/modem firmware.

This is good news to those who do not own a mac. I hope whatever pwnage can offer this jailbreaking tool can do to.

Better wait for the the feedback first. Snowbreeze is known to be buggy as hell. I hope iH8snow already got his act together with this release.

First known issue as tweeted by ih8sn0w is YouTube problems on Hacktivated iPhones.

Solutions?
1. Install YouTube Fix from pushfix's repo
or
2. Install SAM by sbingner to hacktivate iPhone (which is more stable)

Isn't it possible for ih8sn0w to get permission from sbingner to integrate SAM hacktivation into sn0wbreeze? By the way, is this issue existing in CFWs generated by PwnageTool?

That would be great, less hassle for everyone. On the CFW's created by PwnageTool, I have not experienced this issue at all. I've jailbroken 3 iPhones using PwnageTool and YouTube is working with no problems. Maybe others can share their feedbacks here regarding Sn0wbreeze and here regarding PwnageTool.

Sn0wbreeze is like Pawnage Tool, it creates a CFW for you. (as stated in the 1st post)
Sn0wbreeze = Windows
Pawnage Tool = Mac

Yes, you can create one for 3GS (as stated in the 1st post)

can i use this to downgrade my baseband? because I have an iPhone 3G 4.2.1 with iPad baseband 6.15.. and my BootLoader is 5.09.. please help..

because I cant use my bluetooth application to transfer files to any cellphones.. and i think the baseband is the problem...

You can't downgrade the baseband with Sn0wbreeze nor PwnageTool. Only FuzzyBaseBand can downgrade the baseband and it only works on bootloader 5.08.
