For some of us hardcore Appleites, the question is not whether you will get an iPAD or not (yes, duh!) the bigger question is: WIFI vs WIFI + 3G? So, explain your choice and tell us why you NEED to have the 3g version (or NOT).

To tether!
Seriously, wifi only. I already have existing unlimited data plans. Tethering on the iPad would come eventually... or so I hope.

3G Version.

The WiFi version does not have A-GPS. So alot of maps app will not work well with it. Think of it as iPhone vis a vis iPod Touch.

As much as wifi is indeed almost everywhere, its still not. On the beach, in the woods, in your car, in starbucks, all of those places do not have cheap wifi. Starbucks has but requires a GlobeWiz account, so no deal for others. With the competition finally starting between our local telcos for unlimited data this year, spending around 1K for unlimited data EVERYWHERE still sounds like the best and most economical way to truly get internet whereever you are.

I totally agree with zz on the 3G version. This would definitely make the iPad a "true" bring anywhere internet device if 3G is available as a connectivity option. Rarely can you go to a place in the Philippines these days that doesn't have cellular coverage (except of course in Pinatubo, hehehe)...

Additionally, nowadays, connectivity is really more a question of "do i want to stay connected" or "do I need to stay connected?"

Since the device is not going to be locked to Globe, why not choose another carrier?

I believe Apple wont allow it to be locked to any carrier (considering it's not a phone) coz if they did that, its like committing marketing suicide on their part
