in light of ZZ's review of Quickgold, here is a variation of the simply awesome Quickgold application. Quickgold still tops the list since it is mapped to the home button & you can actually launch apps and things you searched for, but Searcher offers a few more perks. in the end, why not simply install both to enjoy the best of both worlds!

Searcher

this app is developed by the same guy who was developing the Openclip project (copy-&-paste workaround for 3rd party apps) from a while back. searcher is basically the quickgold app without the app launcher feature. searcher, however, allows you to view the details of your searches amongst all it's supported fields and dial your searched contacts.

but, what's great about this is that searcher actually filters your searches by app/category. this makes searching (without the need for launching apps) a lot easier.
