so if this is the case sir jun, pwede ba i-jailbrake using spirit ito at hindi mawawala yung unlock niya? nadala na kase ako sa iphone 3g ni esmi eh, baka dalawang iphone na ang hindi magamit dahil sa hindi ma-unlock. hehe.. thanks in advance sa reply.

You can use Spirit and have it unlocked if and only if:
1. Iphone 3g is on firmware 3.1.2 and you have official carrier SIM to activate it (e.g. ATT sim for ATT locked units, Globe SIM for Globe-locked units), jailbreak with Spirit and then unlock with blacksn0w from cydia
2. Iphone 3g is factory unlocked: just use spirit to jailbreak

i see, thanks sa reply. anyway, im using 16GB 3GS and its factory unlock, dito ko sa singapore binili sa starhub pero im using m1 simcard now,sa tingin ko its factory unlocked, pero may hesitation na ako na pag JB ko using spirit eh mawala yung unlock, sabi pa naman dun sa starhub na hindi daw sila nagrerestore ng iphone, hehe.. yung 16GB 3G kase ni esmi hanggang ngayon wait pa kami sa dev team para sa unlock eh, accidentally siya na-update last april, kaya ayun almost 2 mos. na siyang ipod touch. hehe.. anyway, sure talaga sir na pwede spirit ha? thanks. maya i-try ko.

All phones sold in Singapore (even those from Singtel, Starhub, M1, Lucky Plaza, Funan Digital, etc) are factory unlocked as required by law. Factory unlocked status will remain even if you jailbreak it, restore it or boil it in hot water.

Just to reassure as an example.
I just tested Spirit on my sons Brand new FU 3GS latest firmware yesterday. Took about 5 seconds -tapos. Globe signal working.

Cydia is there and installing the rest from there.

Are all iPhones sold by O2 UK never locked ("factory unlocked")? Is this factory unlocked or not? Someone is selling me a factory unlocked iPhone 3gs.

According to him, he paid a fee to unlocked the unit thru Apple in iTunes. Is this true?

Yes, it is true. O2 allows factory unlocking their phones for a certain fee.

2G, 3G, 3Gs or ip4
firmware
baseband

activated or not

No worries. 3G units are jailbreakable and unlockable on any firmware or baseband as of the moment. Just a reminder, dont upgrade firmware in itunes once you get your unit, just in case a new fw is release. Check back here at applei once you get it. In the mean time, read the forums so you will be enlightened what Baseband, activated etc means.
