Make sure you have updated to the latest network carrier settings from Globe which allows you to edit APN and password.

Now you need to classify your sim into any of the three categories:

1. Postpaid
You're done. It's already set-up by default to "internet.globe.ph". You're only concern will be your Globe bill.

2. Prepaid (relatively newer, bought 2007 onwards)
Simply change the APN: http.globe.com.ph, leave username and password blank

3. Prepaid (older ones)
This one makes use of a different proxy server. Unfortunately the proxy.pac which used to work has a different setting in 2.0 Thanks to some posts in modmyifone I was able to edit the present preferences plist to enable proxy server without having the use proxy.pac. Download the attached zip file below. Unzip and SSH the preferences.plist to:

/private/var/preferences/System Configuration

Then use this APN: www.globe.com.ph
username: globe
password: globe

Additional Notes:

1. Back-up all original preferences plists and carrier plists. If it works in my iPhone, it is not an assurance it will work in yours.
2. By default, when your iPhone goes into sleep, it takes around 20-30 seconds to re-enable the EDGE settings so it may not work that quickly.
3. GPRS/EDGE speed sucks! Just go to your nearest Wi-Fi hotspot, or upgrade to a 3G iPhone if you need to be connected all the time!
4. Watch-out for your Globe bills!

guys, ive been trying this out for some time now.. am on 3G 3.1.2... any other way to make older globe sims work... i really dont want to change number.. I already did a reset after replacing the preferences.plist and still nothing. HELP!!

I think this procedure is now obsolete considering that this has been tested on 2.0. At present, Globe upgraded all sims to the latest build (not sure what they call it: 128K?). Even old sim cards can be exchanged to the latest one and retaining the old number. Just go to your nearest Globe center.
