Just to add up, I have tried using all kinds of screen protectors. (glossy, matte and mirror)
What I like with the glossy is it makes the screen much brighter compared to the matte. But I don't like smudges that why I prefer the matte / antifingerprint. What I don't like with the mirror is "medyo makapal siya". May time na di siya sumasabay di tulad ng glossy and matte. I use matte right now btw. Get a capdase, medyo pricy pero at least wala ng sakit sa ulo after. =]

I personally like the glossy 1 only, as it didn't hide any beauty of the screen, or make it worse in case.
I have tried the matte 1 which I removed after 2 days of use, it makes the screen a little dimmer and the icons became not as sharp as before. also the ability to reduce the hand print & face oil is actually hiding them and you still have to wipe it from time to time,
if you like me a fan of screen protector since PDA days, matte is the 1st gen screen protector made/marketed by Brando of HK (which mades them famous in gadget industries and make him rich too), then the 2nd gen is the glossy superthin one that famous because it can actually became a second layer of screen and a good one makes it invisible to naked eyes when properly installed.
then it came the mirror privacy protector that most female likes, save them carrying a mirror in purse, but it do reduce the brightness of the screen and refelctive even lcd is lighted. because its thicker (added another reflective layer to the 3 layers glossy protector) but many still like it, including my wife.
you might wonder why there aren't any matte mirror protector? actually I saw one in factory, but its too think and too dim and too un-reponsive, may be in the future they came up with a super-duper thin layer that can accommodate it.

capdase anti smudge or crystal clear. depends on what's more important ... less smudge on your phone or very clear screen. brando is also good, more pricey than capdase though.

That's due to the oleophobic coating applied on the 3GS screen.
