I agree, Apple is claiming a copyright to the Philippine Flag Icon, not the flag itself. But that fact alone (of claiming a copyright to the icon), is not allowed by our laws. You can not have any vested rights on a design that is predominantly made up of our Philippine flag. There is nothing original nor unique about the icon that Apple uses so as to grant them any rights to it. The icon itself is composed entirely of the image of our Philippine Flag, nothing more, nothing less. And as mentioned, that design/icon has been around for quite awhile. That icon is and should be a part of the public domain, and not subject to any claims of copyright especially by a foreign company.

I think if the icon was not in a "round or circular" design, apple would have let it pass... just a thought...

So what's the scope of this copyright issue? Is it confined to Apple's website, its products and App Store or to the whole internet and worldwide? I think if they are claiming copyright on the ICON for the USE in their website and products such Itunes, App Store, etc, I guess they could afford to do that. But if they claiming copyright worldwide, by all means, anybody go ahead and sue Apple if you think they violate any laws.

i really like this app but cant pay thru itunes. Is there any other way similar to FIC wherein i could just deposit to a bank account? I mean for less than a triple espresso this app is useful. Its also a good thing to support Filipino made apps.
