RecBoot -> Final Release Documentation

So, the past day and a bit everyone has seen RecBoot version 1.0 released for both OS X and Windows. However, I do believe that the Windows version by @iHacker has been updated to 1.0.1. Now, I just thought I’d clear up a little bit when it came to the OS X version.

As most people that have used it have discovered, when sending the device into recovery mode and then making it exit recovery mode without closing the application, it will cause the application to crash. I am currently in the process of pushing out a 1.0.1 for OS X which fixes this problem. It should be a simple fix, so I’ll update it as soon as possible.

Now, what RecBoot actually does isn’t that big, but it is the first application that has given users the ability to send the device into recovery mode as well as exit recovery mode with a single click. It implements the use of iRecovery and MobileDevice.h in the OS X version, and in the Windows version it implements both iRecovery and iPHUC from memory. This application now gives the user the ability to be able to easily kick the connected device(s) into recovery mode as well as out of recovery mode.

This is the first official CoreDev Team project/application to be released. The Windows version is Open-Source, however the OS X version won’t be open source until version 2.0 has been released. I am currently in the process of adding functionality to the application, making it easier for those that need to keep their SHSH blobs via a certain ECID. I can not put an estimate on the release date, but I can tell you now that I am currently working on it.

With RecBoot finally getting a lot of attention, I will need to push out OS X 1.0.1 as quickly as possible, as many users have most likely experienced these problems already.

Anyway, thanks once again to those of you who have used it, and thanks to those that have helped out with the development of RecBoot.

So the time has come to release the final edition of RecBoot.

There are not many changes in the final edition to the last beta.
Mainly GUI.

However, this is why I wanted to develop RecBoot.
Ever got that dreaded 150x error in iTunes and had to go to the good ol’ command line utility, iRecovery?
Well, not anymore, simply hit Exit Recovery Mode and there it goes, your device will be out of recovery mode in no time.

What about having to press the home button and plug in the USB to get it into recovery mode to find your ECID, or to find out other information? Not anymore, just hit Enter Recovery Mode.

I must stress that RecBoot isn’t a jailbreak, nor a fake jailbreak. It is simply a small application I put together to help those to get into recovery mode, and to help those get out of recovery mode.

The final release of RecBoot can now be downloaded from here (mac version)

Moja, am glad this post was able to help you out. But it seems that mriphone has an earlier existing thread about it. I merged the 2 threads now (thanks ims).
O.T. As always, ganda ng rocker monkey avatar mo.

Tinman, you just run the program and click on the appropriate button to either enter or exit recovery mode.

Upcoming update for recboot

DFU Mode -> It is possible -> Will we see it in RecBoot?

So, I have been focusing on bringing automatic DFU mode integration into RecBoot.

As numerous people begin to download and use RecBoot, I thought it’d be best I perfect this version.
As it is, the user would have to select “Enter Recovery Mode” and then select “Enter DFU Mode”.
What this will do will bring up another window asking the user to select the current .ipsw for the connected device.
RecBoot will then edit the .ipsw so that it will send the device into a DFU loop, and then it’ll save it to the users desktop (maybe even a temporary folder).
Basically then RecBoot will send the new .ipsw to the current device which is in recovery mode and send it into a DFU loop.

When the device is in a DFU loop, you won’t be able to get out unless you do a full restore.
But, when a user goes into DFU mode, usually it is to restore with a custom firmware.

ETA: A month or two.
Reason: I have exams within the next few weeks and I am currently developing an iPhone application for a company.

RecBoot V1.3 – Easily boot your device into/out of Recovery Mode with one click 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 145
RecBoot is now Version 1.3. You can use RecBoot to kick out or enter recovery mode with just one click.

You need to have iTune 9.2 or newer, .NET Framework v4.0 and LibUSB installed in your computer for Recboot to run.

Links:
Download .NET Framework v4.0
Download libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.exe

Download Recboot v1.3 for Windows
Download Recboot v1.0.2 for Mac OS X
Download Recboot v1.0.2 for Linux

If you are on a Windows 64bit machine, run libusb installer and RecBoot in WIN XP SP3 compatibility mode.
