Here are a few tips when posting in the forums, just so we can, as much as possible, keep the threads as clean as possible.
1) Utilize the buttons in the Boardcode section right above. (See image below)
1. Highlight the text you want to appear as Bold, Italicized, Underlined, etc.
2. Click on the corresponding button to insert the code.
----------------------------------------------------------------
2) Reminders on quoting:
1. Please avoid quoting posts which contain images. Quoting posts with images, specially those whose images have a width of 480, distort the margins.
2. Don't quote when all you need to do is reply to the post.
3. When quoting, only quote the relevant parts, and delete the unnecessary texts.
4. Kindly refrain from "quoting trails", i.e. quoting the quotes which already contain quotes, which contain other quotes, and other quotes, and other quotes, and so on.............
----------------------------------------------------------------
3) Use online image hosting sites, specially when posting multiple images in one post.
Possible Image Hosting Websites are
ImageShack,
Photobucket, and
Multiply, among others.
Using ImageShack:
1. When you go the the site, on the top part of the page, you'll find the option to
Choose File. (See image below) Browse through your HD, and select the image you want to upload.
2. Once you've chosen the image file, click
host it!
3. You will be redirected to the page which contains various links. Go to the bottom-most part of the page. Highlight & copy the
image address found in
Hotlink for forums (2). (See image below)
4. Paste the copied image address onto where you want the image to appear on your post.
5. Highlight the pasted image address, and click on the
Img button found in the Boardcode, as mentioned in the first part of my post. Your image address should now have the image codes surrounding it.
6. To post another image, go to the top-most part of the same page where you copied the link from in ImageShack. Click
Upload. (See image below) Repeat steps 1-5.
NOTE:
+ When uploading an image, please make sure the
maximum width is
480.
+ Please avoid using image addresses of pictures found in personal webpages with limited viewing, i.e. pictures posted on Multiply, Friendster, Facebook, etc. of those with Private/Limited/Restricted Access to viewing, as this might not appear on the post.
+ When using image addresses of pictures in Multiply, etc., please make sure that the album's access is not restricted.
+ When uploading only a single image, you may use the
Image Attachment button found below the message input box.
+Please avoid using the
File Attachment button to upload images, as the images will merely appear as file attachments, and not as the image itself.
----------------------------------------------------------------
4) As much as possible, compress the files being uploaded.
1. Choose the file to be attached to the post by clicking on the
File Attachment button found below the message input box. (See image below)
NOTE:
File uploads in the forum are limited. Possible files that may be attached to the post are as follows:
1) .zip
2) .txt
3) .doc
4) .gz
5) .jpg
6) .gif
7) .png
8) .dmg
9) .ipsw
Maximum file size that may be attached is
5000 KB (or
5MB).
----------------------------------------------------------------
5) In posting links, please utitlize the URL button found in the Boardcode.
1. Click the
URL button found in the Boardcode.
2. You will notice the code inserted onto your post. (See code below)
| Code: |
This is a link
|
3. Insert an equal sign "=" inside the bracket, after the first url. (See image below)
4. Paste the address of the website after the "=" sign, but make sure it's still inside the bracket.
5. In between the two sets of brackets, type in the the text which you want to appear as a hotlink. (In the sample image below, the text which will appear as a link in the post is "This is a link")
NOTE:
+ Posting entire webpage addresses might distort the margins of the forums, so please use the steps above to avoid this.
+ Don't forget to use this, specially when re-posting news, rumors, etc. found in other forums.
----------------------------------------------------------------
6) Don't forget to preview your posts before clicking on the Submit button.
There's a
preview button right beside the
Submit button. Kindly click on this to review your post and to avoid errors in posting.
----------------------------------------------------------------
8) Spamming or Spam-like posts are strictly NOT allowed.
Please read these simple and clear-cut rules carefully to avoid having your post removed by the moderators. All moderators reserve the right to immediately and automatically remove posts/threads if deemed in violation of the no-spamming rule.
The following are the guidelines for a post to be considered a spam.
-
Posts made on non-appropriate threads just to "promote" your blog/site/twitter/myspace/facebook/multiply/etc which is clearly not related to the section topic. If you sincerely want to promote it properly, write a well-written post/review on the appropriate forum section for everyone to read.

Replies made on non-appropriate threads just to "promote" your blog/site/twitter/myspace/facebook/multiply/etc which is clearly not related to the thread topic. If you truly want to post a sincere reply, include all the information on your reply and do not redirect the viewer to your personal blog/site/twitter/myspace/facebook/multiply/etc just for him/her to read your answer/solution to his/her query.
-
Replies disguised as a "reply" which clearly is not written as a proper reply but instead is a spam attempt to sell a piece of software/crapware/spamware. If you truly want to post a sincere reply, include all the information on your reply and do not redirect the viewer to your personal blog/site/twitter/myspace/facebook/multiply/etc just for him/her to read your answer/solution to his/her query.

Posts disguised as a "review" which clearly is not written as a proper review but instead is a spam attempt to sell a piece of software/crapware/spamware. Reviews are write-ups about one's experience while using the product. Material which might be found on the particular software's FAQ or Tutorial page is not a review and also considered a spam attempt to sell a piece of software/crapware/spamware. If you truly want to sell your software/product, write a well-written post on the appropriate forum section for everyone to read provided that you have the minimum required post count to sell on the marketplace threads.
